1. The profile of Saint Joseph School

The College Saint Joseph is a school own and ran by the Marist Brothers. It was established in 1921 by the Marist Brothers in Madagascar. The Brothers work mostly in schools in the country. It is one of the seven schools under the administration of the Marist Brothers. The school is situated in the middle part of the country in Antsirabe, a town of 373,000 population. The principal objective of the school is to provide both education and academic knowledge for the young people. It is for such a mission that Saint Joseph School, in collaboration with lay people, cares the education of 2300 boys and girls students in primary (6 years) and secondary (6 years) sections.

The Marist Brothers are members of religious congregation in the Catholic Church whose main mission is to educate children and young people in the society. The Marist Brothers Institute was founded in France in 1817 by Saint Marcellin Champagnat. Today the community numbers 2,900 Brothers worldwide. They are joined by a network of 7,200 lay people and reach more than 650,000 children and young people in 81 countries. The Marist network is present in schools and universities, pastoral and social centers, youth movements and programmes, and wherever they find children and young people most in need. The Marist Brothers Province of Madagascar administers seven schools across Madagascar, educating over 10,000 students annually.
